« on: March 27, 2013, 19:32:12 PM »
Hello. If you have life thread on forum, then you should know, how popular life missions are.
So there is a question or suggestion:
Will you make a life mission server on Arma 3, and how soon?
If you will, what mission are you going to use, your own or someone else edition?
I'd like to know that, cause i like your servers.
And Admins are fine.

Thanks.

Thanks for feedback and suggestion.
We will take a look at this but I think we are heading more on tactical gameplay with our servers.
Definitely we will be using ACE mod when its released.

Arma2 / ACE Clippi
« on: January 09, 2013, 13:09:25 PM »
If you have problems getting ACE menus working properly, you need to run aceclippi.

If you use Play withSix, you can find Ace settings (clippi) by clicking Mods -> Advanced Combat Environment -> Settings

Those who dont use Play withSix can find aceclippi.exe from your mod-install folder.
If you have changed Play With SIX default install folder eg. to point Arma2OA install folder, you will find aceclippi.exe under Arma2OA\@ACE\clippi\aceclippi.exe.
By default Play with SIX will install all arma2 mods under (my) documents so folder will be: Documents\Arma 2\@ACE\clippi\aceclippi.exe

Check that all paths are correct:

Under "Change manual options" choose your player name profile and check some options:

Arma2 / Arma2 ACRE - Getting started
« on: December 23, 2012, 10:58:39 AM »
If you get ACRE Pipe error, start your Teamspeak as an Administrator or disable UAC from Windows.

Your standard PUSH TO TALK button (CAPS LOCK) will be your radio "cue" button.
TS3 PTT button will become "local communication", like speaking out loud and it is 3D positional.
You will not hear someone "talking" if you are more than 15 feet from them.
This is where the Radios and their Ranges come in to pick up the load.
You WILL be talking LOCALLY when using Radio, and any around you, friend or foe, will hear you as well - but, those on the same radio channel will hear you over that radio, range permitting.

There is four different radio types in ArmA2: Advanced Combat Radio Environment (ACRE)
  • PRC-343
  • PRC-148 - Power Modes: 100mW - 5000mW
  • PRC-117F - Power Modes: 1000mW - 20000mW
  • PRC-119 - Power Modes: 400mW(Lo), 2200mW(Med), 4000mW(Hi)

AN/PRC-343 - Small handheld squad radio (default radio)
Low range radio with lowest transmitting power (Range 500-800m).
Used for communicating between squad members.

USAGE:
Channel: Left/Right mouseclick on the numbered channel knob. (number 1-15, default 1)
Volume: Left mouseclick on volume knob. (number 0-10, default 10. Volume 0 turns off radio)

AN/PRC-148 - Standard handheld platoon to platoon radio
Has a semi-long range and high power (Range 400-5000m).
Used by Squadleaders to communicate between squads. SL usually carries both 343 and 148 radios.
IMPORTANT: Radio is by default in 100mW transmit power which means ONLY 400m range.

USAGE:
Channel: To select a channel, first make sure you are in the "CH" mode.
  • Make sure you are in CH mode
  • Press the "UP" or "DOWN" arrows
  • This will change you to your respective new net
Volume: The center knob at the top of the radio display, the large black one, is the volume knob. This allows you to turn the radio entirely off, or to turn the volume up or down. Simply right click to turn volume down, and left click to turn volume up. You will know you have found the volume knob because it will display "Volume" when you mouse over it.

Transmit power: Its important to remember that the power setting is PER CHANNEL, AKA NET. This means if you set your power to 5000 for net 01, all other nets will still be at default power.

To set the power for the current net:
  • Click the "MODE" button, until "POWER" is displayed in the bottom right hand corner of the display. This should be 2 clicks from the CH mode.
  • Click the "UP" or "DOWN" arrows to respectively cycle through the available powers.
  • Click "ENT" to select the new power for the current net
Transmit power 100 = 400m, 5000 = 5km

AN/PRC-117F - Platoon to platoon and Ground to Air backpack radio
Long range radio with 100 preset channels. Can communicate with the AN/PRC-119 and the AN/PRC-148.

USAGE:
Channel: Programming a Custom Channel Frequency
To change the frequency of a given channel, you must actually program that pre-programmed channel. That channel will then always use that frequency. Remember, this must be done for every channel separately as it is saved per-channel.

  • Press the PGM button, or 8.
  • Select the channel you wish to change the power by pressing < or >
  • Once selected, press ENT
  • Use < and > to move to the FREQ menu. It should be blinking.
  • Press ENT again, and the current frequency and desired new frequency should be displayed.
  • Press < and > to change between digits
  • Type in the frequency you wish to set.
  • Press ENT to save.

Volume: Press the VOL up and own buttons.
Transmit power: Selecting a Power for a Channel

To change the power of a given channel, you must actually program that pre-programmed channel. That channel will then always use that power. Remember, this must be done for every channel separately as it is saved per-channel.

  • Press the PGM button, or 8.
  • Select the channel you wish to change the power by pressing < or >
  • Once selected, press ENT
  • Use < and > to move to the POWER menu. It should be blinking.
  • Press ENT again, and the current power and desired new power should be displayed.
  • Press < and > to change the power
  • Press ENT to save.

AN/PRC-119 - Single Channel Ground and Airborne backpack radio
Allows secured communications for both, air and land units.

USAGE:

Channel: Selecting a Channel

CHAN (channel) switch. Selects manual, preset, and cue frequencies.

CUE
When loaded with the correct CUE frequency, may be used to contact an FH radio net when you are not an active member of that net. CUE may be used if you are operating in Single Channel(SC) and wish to contact a Frequency Hopping(FH) net. Only unit-designated stations should load CUE frequency.

ACRE - CUE switch not operable at this time.

MAN
When loaded with an SC frequency, can be used to communicate in SC and/or to perform cold start net opening.

Channel 1-6
Positions of the CHAN switch that may be loaded with one or more of the following: Single Channel frequency key Frequency Hopping and Secure Communications are not available in ACRE at this time.

ACRE - At this time Channels 1-6 are preloaded with set Frequencies. Click the right or left mouse button on the CHAN switch to select the desired channel.

Volume: VOL/WHSP (volume/whisper) control
Adjusts audio volume. Whisper control allows you to speak softly during transmit, and to receive at a normal level.

ACRE - Click the right and left mouse buttons on the Switch to increase or decrease volume.

Transmit power: Power settings in the ACRE PRC-119 are adjustable. They consist of Low, Medium, HI, and PA(Power Amplified, used in vehicles).

ACRE - Use the left and right mouse button and click on the Power Switch to move the power levels up or down.

NOTE - The PRC-119 is dependent on line of site and the power setting will affect the effective range of the radio depending on where the transmitter and receiver are located (See Signal Planning). LO will pick up signals approximately 500-800 meters away, M will do 3-5km, and HI will do approximately 8-10km depending on line of site. This will change with elevation. PA will go 35-40km.

VEHICLE AND RADIOS

Vehicles have own radio. Use Alt + Shift + Q to take it in use.

ACRE CONTROLS:

CTRL + SHIFT + S or A - Cycle between radios (switch between 343, 148, 119, 117F)
CTRL + SHIFT + X -Open selected radio interface
CTRL + SHIFT + LEFT ARROW -Set current radio into your left ear only
CTRL + SHIFT + RIGHT ARROW -Set current radio into your right ear only
ALT + SHIFT + 1 -Preset: Talk to first radio in inventory

ALT + SHIFT + E -Lower/Raise Headset (see below)
ALT + SHIFT + Q -Use vehicle radio (only inside vehicles)

MOUSE-SCROLL-MENU
"Raise Headset" -simulates the headset away from your characters ears and mouthpiece. (50%)
"Lower Headset" -opposite of Raise Headset

SIGNALL LOSS INFORMATION

With ACRE planning effective communication networks is essential. While this might sound challenging it is fairly basic for most squad through platoon level operations. If your missions do not rely on outside or distant forces the planning becomes even easier.

Either simple or complex this preparation is referred to as Signal Planning. It is the process in which you make sure that all units have effective and timely communications when they need to while maneuvering.

First we will cover some basics.

Radio Frequency Basics

ACRE takes its radio frequency simulation from real world cues. As of v1.0 radio signals are affected by distance, terrain, object clutter (buildings, trees, etc), and the statistics of the radio sets themselves. This means that you have to take these factors into account when you are planning and using your radio sets.

Radio Frequency Signal Terrain and Clutter Attenuation

The most common cause of signal attenuation is from terrain and objects around you. Below are some examples of common situations.

Obviously large obstructions like hills and mountains that interfere with the direct line-of-sight (LOS) will cause major loss. This often restricts communications entirely.

Even situations where you think terrain would not be an issue can be surprising. Remember that good LOS is critical to effective communications.

Large buildings and natural and man made objects other than terrain can cause issues with signal loss. Remember that having transmitters or receivers higher than obstructions is a good practice.

Radio Set Classname Antenna(s)
AN/PRC-148 VHF ACRE_PRC148 1.2 Meter VHF Antenna
AN/PRC-148 UHF ACRE_PRC148_UHF 14" UHF Antenna
AN/PRC-119 ACRE_PRC119 1.2 Meter VHF Antenna
AN/PRC-117F ACRE_PRC117F 1.2 Meter VHF Antenna, 13" UHF Antenna

What this says is the length of each of the radio's antenna. The 148 VHF (Default 148) has the same length of antenna as the 119. Effectively making the 148 have 1000mW more power capable than the 119, and in ArmA since radio's don't have batteries, that makes it a better radio (The 148 that is).

VHF and UHF differences:
Military radio frequencies for Western forces fall in the VHF (Very High Frequency) and UHF (Ultra High Frequency) bands. For the purposes of ACRE this is from 30Mhz to 512Mhz.

VHF antennas tend to be longer, since the wavelength of these frequencies is larger than those of UHF antennas. UHF antennas can be much shorter. This means that the VHF version of the AN/PRC-148 will get better reception in the lower frequency bands (30Mhz-120Mhz) than the UHF version will.

So if you're operating on lower freqs use the VHF version, if on higher freqs (120Mhz+) its better to be using the UHF version.

Arma2 / ArmA2 =Olut= Server and mods
« on: December 21, 2012, 01:59:33 AM »
Tässä monsterin tekemä opasvideo modien asennukseen:

There is so many mods required currently at =Olut= server that we recommend highly to use PLAY WITH SIX for installing & updating mods and launching the game.
Play with SIX can receive all required mods from selected server and install/update/launch them.

Keep in mind that Six Updater and Six Launcher are outdated and can't detect mods used in selected server.

Before start you need to choose do you want to use new way (2a) of installing mods under Documents\Arma2 or do you wanna go old way (2b) and keep them under Arma2OA install folder. I prefer to move them under Documents so your actual game folder keeps clean.

You need to have TeamSpeak3 VOIP software installed before installing @ACRE -mod !
Download TS3: http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads

1) Download and install Play with SIX: http://play.withsix.com/download

2a) If you have any mods installed, move all @-starting folders from your arma2oa -folder into "Documents\Arma2".
If you don't have any mods installed yet, jump to phase 3).
OR
2b) Change mod-folder location from Play with SIX: Click gear icon at top left and choose game settings.
Under Locations you will see Mods folder. Copy path from "ARMA 2 OA Folder" into "Mods Folder".

3) Click "Play" tab from top left corner, then click "Mods" tabs from top middle.
Choose "Advanced Combat Environment" from list in middle of page.

If Play with SIX is in narrow mode, click small arrow in next of "No mods selected" text.

4) Ensure that Multiplayer switch is selected under ACE -mod.
Then click "ServerBrowser" and type to the "Server Filters": =Olut=

5) Choose "=Olut= SISU ARMA2 ACE & ACRE -hosted by olutta.org" from serverlist at middle

6) Click "Update" from bottom left corner. If you don't have any required mods installed yet, this will take some time. Answer "Yes" to any popups.

7) After mods are synced, you can join to the server.

Before joining:
Restart your TeamSpeak3 to enable ACRE plugin. Start TS3 as administrator or disable UAC from Windows.

When you speak at TS3, its local 3d positional voip. This means people physically near you in the game can only hear you.
Press CAPS LOCK to route your voice through radio and people in 700m radius can hear you. Use radio only for important communications!

By default you might have squad radio (343) on you. Do not take any additional radios unless told so.
If you are in squad 1, use channel 1. If in squad 2, use channel 2 and so on..
You can change radio channel from CTRL+SHIFT+X and clicking top left side knob with mouse left/right button.

More information about ACRE from here: http://olutta.org/forum/index.php/topic,2657.0.html

Here is list of all mods at 13.04.2013
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

PS. If you get disconnected, make sure you have ArmaII Combined Operations selected from Play withSIX.

Play withSIX user interface has updated, here is latest picture how it should look like if you wanna use JSRS sound mod and blastcore visuals (ACEX_SM ace-sound mod needs to be disabled to get JSRS working).

PR:ArmA2 Support / Re: FPS in PR Arma2
« on: November 03, 2012, 03:25:32 AM »
Here is some tweak info compilation for better FPS:

Disclaimer: I did not write most of this, I’ve just compiled it from various sources into this single document. I have, however, tried to simplify things (removed duplicate tips, elaborated on some of the tips, etc).

I’m not responsible for any damage to your PC or game that may result (however unlikely) from taking this advice.

And finally, results will vary from PC to PC, some people (including myself) have seen dramatic improvement in graphics and FPS from these changes. Other people have seen no improvement whatsoever.

-- noteworthynerd

I have not updated this in quite a while, so some of it may be outdated.

Update your GPU driver: NVIDIA users here: http://www.geforce.com/drivers, AMD/ATI here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

NVIDIA users: Right click your desktop and click NVIDIA control panel, click Manage 3D settings, click the Program Settings tab, select Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead (you may have to uncheck the “Show only programs on this computer”), set the following:

Ambient Occlusion - Off

Anisotropic Filtering - Application controlled

AntiAliasing Gamma Correction - On

AntiAliasing Mode - Application controlled

AntiAliasing Setting - Application controlled

AntiAliasing Transparency - Off

Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames - 0

Multi-Display/GPU Accelaration - Single Display

Performance Mode

Power Management Mode - Prefer Maximum Performance

Texture Filtering Sample Optimization - On

Texture Filtering Negative LOD Bias - Allow

Texture Filtering Quality - High Performance

Texture Filtering Trilinear Optimization - On

Threaded Optimization - Auto

Triple Buffering - Off

Vertical Sync - Off

ATI Users: Just find the equivalent in your control panel (sorry this isn’t more elaborate, but I don’t own an ATI card to figure out the correct settings)

Now go to My Documents/ArmA 2, open up the file called "<username>.ArmA2OAProfile" in notepad. Change these lines to the following:
        shadingQuality=0;
        mouseSmoothing=1;
Now open up the filled called “ArmA2OA.cfg” in notepad. Change these lines to the following:
        AToC=6;

        PPAA=1;
        PPAA_Level=1;
        GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1;
        GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1;

AToC controls anti-aliasing on foliage. setting it to 6 disables AA on grass, which gives you a massive performance boost. the PPAA commands enable a very light, basic FXAA, which gives you back AA on the grass, and finishes off other details in-game. Combining FXAA + normal AA = more fps, looks better.

Then, use the following settings in-game:
Visibility: User preference, the lower number the less likely you are to experience FPS problems and screen tearings.
        Brightness and Gamma: User preference.
        Quality Preference: Normal
Interface resolution: Whatever your monitor’s native resolution is.
        3D Resolution: Same as above.
        Texture detail: User preference.
        Video Memory: Default.
This makes Arma 2 use all your vram.
        Anisotropic filtering: User preference.
        Anti-Aliasing: High.
Low and normal look worse and don't improve your performance.
Object detail: between Very Low and Normal.
This setting will always hurt your fps, so go easy on it. It pretty much only affects grass.
        Shadow detail: High
If your FPS is still low, turn this down.
        HDR quality: User preference.
        Postprocess effects: Low or Disabled.
I prefer Disabled as it stops things like your screen going fuzzy when you’re low on blood.
        Interface size: User preference.
Aspect ratio: Whatever your monitor’s aspect ratio is.
Vsync: User preference. I keep it enabled.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How to adjust your Field of Vision (original here):

Go to My Documents/ArmA 2/ and open up <USERNAME>.ArmA2OAProfile.cfg in notepad. Scroll to the very bottom and you'll see two values, fovTop and fovLeft.

Calculate what vertical FoV corresponds to your desired horizontal FoV using this calculator. Make sure the "resolution" information is correct!

Take that number, go to Google, and search "<insert number here>  degrees in radians" to convert it. It should be a small number, between .5 and 1.5 in all likelihood. Round it off at the hundredth (the second number after the decimal).

Enter that value as fovTop in notepad.

Using a calculator, divide that number by the second number in your aspect ratio - in my case, 16:10 (so I divide it by 10). Then multiply it by the first number in your aspect ratio (in my case 16). Now enter that number for fovLeft, and round it the same way.

Boom! Load up ArmA 2 and witness how much more you can see. I also encourage you to bind a thumb button to the Freelook command, as it also helps with situational awareness. I'm a stickler for Hardcore servers, but many of my friends couldn't bear the lack of third person until I walked them through this. Now they feel totally aware of their surroundings, and we don't have to worry about campers using 3rd person to look around/over cover.
I hope I helped, and please let me know if I did anything wrong. I'm a Computer Science / Game Design student and even I am confused by ArmA's convoluted FoV system.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fix for “artifacting” (credit to quint on the DayZ forum):

A lot of people are experiencing artifacting, here’s an example on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNNrb3TZmgY (not my video) after the latest patch. I haven’t tried the fix myself, as I only experienced artifacting once, but an apparent fix is to:

Go to My Documents/ArmA 2/ and open up <USERNAME>.ArmA2OAProfile.cfg in notepad.
    Change sceneComplexity  to =100000;Save an
    Save and exit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you run into quirky issues, try “Flushing” your graphics in game (clears video memory):

Press Shift and - (on the numpad) simultaneously, and then type the word “flush”. Your screen will go black for a few seconds.
Another apparent fix for glitches is to change your Video Memory settings and then change it back. For example, change the setting to Normal, and then back to Default.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Add the CPU Count parameter.

I’ve heard mixed things about this one. Some people say it doesn’t work, other’s report that it does, I haven’t noticed a big difference myself.

    If you launch from SixLauncher:
        Open SixLauncher
Click “Options” (Bottom Left under the Twitter Icon)
add -cpucount=# (where # is the amount of physical cores your CPU has) to the “Additonal startup parameters” line.
If you launch from DayZ Commader:
        Open DayZ Command
        Click settings (Upper Right)
add -cpucount=# (where # is the amount of  physical cores your CPU has) to the “Additonal Launch Parameters” line.
    If you launch from Steam:
        Open Steam.
Right click on Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead in your game library and select properties.
        Click “SET LAUNCH OPTIONS”
add -cpucount=# (where # is the amount of  physical cores your CPU has)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those of you with multiple GPUs, try adding the WinXP parameter. I don’t have multiple GPUs, so I haven’t tested this one, but apparently it turns on Multiple GPU support.

    If you launch from SixLauncher:
        Open SixLauncher
Click “Options” (Bottom Left under the Twitter Icon)
add -winxp to the “Additonal startup parameters” line.
If you launch from DayZ Commader:
        Open DayZ Command
        Click settings (Upper Right)
add -winxp to the “Additonal Launch Parameters” line.
    If you launch from Steam:
        Open Steam.
Right click on Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead in your game library and select properties.
        Click “SET LAUNCH OPTIONS”
        add -winxp
